Don Sussman brings his expertise in botany from New York University and the University of Maine, along with more than 16 years of experience in creating award-winning NYC streetscapes. Don’s interest in plants and landscaping stemmed from his career of teaching high school Biology. During his summer breaks as a teacher, he started gardening on Fire Island, and it took no time for Don to realize his passion for gardening. At Town and Gardens, Don now advises the T&G team on how to work with the unique challenges of designing public and private spaces in the city. From the logistics of city permits, to working closely with contractors, Don supports the team daily and provides management oversight to ensure the highest quality for all clients. During projects, Don enjoys photographing the sites to see how the spaces are brought to life from start to finish. Also, when he does have time to travel, Don enjoys taking his family to visit different gardens around the world.
